Children’s Picnic table 2 in 1 made of Douglas fir wood

This children’s picnic table can be converted into a bench in an instant. This saves room when you are not using the picnic table, and the kids can use the bench to enjoy reading a book.

The picnic table is made of Douglas fir wood, this type of wood is strong and has a long service life. It does not need to be treated, and can stay outside all year long. Also very convenient in a garden porch or the children’s play room. It is ready for use immediately!

Suitable for children from 2 to 3 years and older. We advise that converting the bench into a picnic table and vice versa is only done by adults.

The picnic table/bench will be fully assembled before delivery, so no complicated assembly kits!

-Do I need to treat the bench?

The Bench and Table 2 in 1 does not need to be treated. Untreated, the colour of the wood will turn grey over time. If you wish to preserve the original colour for longer, you can treat the bench/table with Douglas fir Oil – Clear. The first time you have to coat your bench/table twice and repeat it with one coat every year. This treatment only relates to preserving the colour. Untreated and treated bench/tables have the same lifespan. Never paint your bench/table with paint, because this will flake off when the wood works and your bench/table will be unusable!

-Are small hairline cracks normal?

A commonly asked question concerns small hairline cracks in Douglas fir wood. Small hairline cracks in Douglas fir wood are very common, some are short, however, longer hairline cracks are also possible. They appear due to the working of the wood, especially when the weather is very dry. In humid weather the hairline cracks will become less visible. They do not impact the longevity of your bench/table and are a key characteristic of the wood type. Do you have any doubts if the hairline cracks in your bench/table are normal? Do not hesitate to email us a picture of your hairline cracks. We will review your pictures and reply to your email as soon as possible.

-What do I do when resin comes out of the wood?

Wood is a natural product, therefore resin can develop in the wood. Wait for the resin to harden and then carefully sand the resin down with a light sandpaper. Do not rub over the fresh resin in an attempt to remove it, this will spread out the resin, making it more difficult to remove. If you accidently got some resin on your clothes, HG has a very good cleaning product to remove the resin.

-Do we use sustainable wood?

Yes, we buy our wood from companies that are certified with the PEFC quality mark. PEFC is an international quality mark for (products of) wood and paper. PEFC stands for Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification. It is supported by governments, companies and regional organisations.
